2012 Season

June 2012
To surfers reading our testimonial on this website, or guests having arrived and reading this entry in this book, we start by saying how proud to have been asked by Tina & Arthur to be their inaugral entry in their guest book.

Tina's attention to detail from our first enquiry of availability, exchange of emails and information provided was extremely professional. On arrival we were met by Lindsey and Gerry, the housekeeper and manager, who made us very welcome, showing us around, explaining everything. The kitchen table was there with complimentary provisions for our first evening and the following day's breakfast. Nice thought and very much appreciated after a long journey.

The gite itself is typically French in that not all the upstairs floors are level, there are a couple of "sit in the tubs" in the en-suites and steps here and there but this is a gite with character, style, originality, constant hot water, excellent showers, superb deep bath, all en-suite, fully equiped kitchen, lounge supplying books, games, internet, DVDs, Freeview etc etc

Outside everything is per website - what they say they deliver on, thanks to Arthur's good heart of, "people come here on holiday and I want them to enjoy the experience", however if you do need anything then a phone call to Lindsey or Gerry will answer your query. The pool is at a constant 27 degrees and has the clearest water you will ever have seen.

In answer to any doubters thinking the owners friends have written this, we affirm we have never met any of the above named until our arrival. In the last couple of days Tina and Arthur visited where we enjoyed their company and conversation, reciprocated the following evening with cold beer and wine as the sun fell beyond the trees and by now it was well past 9pm - Bliss!!

And finally, for anyone viewing Google Earth, the work shown thereon was 2 years ago when mains drainage was being laid - the land is now grass and wild poppies grow in profusion.

Best wishes to Tina and Arthur as we look forward to seeing your plans unfold during the coming years.

We have had a lovely week in this beautiful gite. Beautiful bedrooms and a variety of eating areas meant the whole family were kept very happy. We have loved lounging by the pool and really appreciated all the little touches that make the house comfortable and homely. Many thanks.

I just wanted to say that we all enjoyed the accommodation and facilities at your wonderful home, the outside and internal living areas suited our party perfectly. The annex was perfect for the couple with young Harry, 4 months, as it was lovely and cool when the temperatures reached 45 degrees for a few days and sound proof from the rest of the house! Walking into the village to get the morning bread and croissants was a great pleasure and the epicerie was a great place for getting emergency supplies when everything else was shut. We made great use of the pool and outside eating areas, on the really hot nights eating around and swimming in the pool to keep cool! We made several trips out to various chateaux, lakes and lovely villages and also enjoyed a great canoeing trip. It was a lovely holiday and thank you so much for letting us share your home, it was fantastic.

Ardderchog!! (Ed – Welsh, we think!). Dioich yn faur! (Ed – does anyone know whether or not we should be reproducing this part of the guest book or not??!). Thanks for a fantastic first ‘family’ holiday – love the place, area, & definitely the wine! Thanks for everything!
Sharon, Ben & Thomas Kathrens. Wales.

Excellent place – would love to return. Thanks for all your help and making our friends and babies welcome.
Richard, Jane and Bethany Cherrington. Wales.

Everything you could want from a holiday (and then some!) for all ages. The service provided by the Cooks is exemplary – they even found us a home in France! (nearby –was this such a smart move?!?). PS There were eleven of us here and even when it rained there was room for eleven plus. PPS If you remember the 11+ then you’re as old as me…!
William & Jo Booth Davey and most of the extended family. England.

1st – 8th July 2005
Dear M and Stu – to paraphrase your (late, great) fellow Brit George Orwell: ‘All gites are equal, except some are more equal than others’. Yours is definitely more equal. Your place is a labour of love…and we loved it! Your hospitality, friendship, helpfulness, and kindness were unanticipated…but so truly appreciated. As Bogey (Ed – Humphrey Bogart) uttered in the Casablanca fog of’44: ‘Frenchy – this could be the start of a beautiful relationship.’ Merci beaucoup!!!
Kathy & Phil Andrew. Alamo, California, USA

Without you daring and fortitude places like this would not be accessible to us. Thank you!

Our Guests

We have had guests from the UK, Hong Kong, the USA and Canada

Type of party

Parties seem to fall into two groups: extended families spanning three generations, and groups of friends.

The provision of facilities, particularly the ensuites in every bedroom, are well suited to both.

Whilst there are terraces etc that accommodate a whole party of 10/12, there are also a number of quiet little spots on the property for those in search of their own space.
